Here are some ideas to increase your pledges.

1. Send out letters to family members, friends, business acquaintances, doctors, dentists, pastors, teachers, clubs, organizations, foundations, neighbors, etc. is a great way of collecting pledges. Including a self addressed return envelope improves your chances of having a pledge returned.
2. Check with your employer to see if they have a matching gift program.
3. Personally call or visit your friends, neighbors and relatives.
4. Ask for a small amount, just a dollar or five dollars.

Here is a sample letter for you to use:

Dear Friend,
I am fundraising for the Jessamine Humane Society through my participation in The Doggy Bowl. This is a bowl-a-thon that will be held on September 23, 2007, at JD Legend's Strike Zone, in Nicholasville.

The JHS cares for thousands of animals each year, taking in strays, providing shelter and sanctuary for abuse and cruelty cases and adopting them out to good homes. They also help lost pets find their way home, returning hundreds of animals to their owners. This takes money and I want to help them.

I hope you will help me raise serious money for this non-profit organization by pledging your support. Any amount is gratefully accepted and appreciated. Please make your checks out to: The Jessamine Humane Society and mail them back to me. I will turn in your donation on September 23, the day of the bowl-a-thon.
